When is this useful?
Merging shines whenever scattered files need to be submitted as one: combining a contract with its attachments into a single PDF for email, binding chapter-by-chapter reports into one document, or tidying up pages that were scanned as separate files.
Many portals only accept a single upload. Merging in advance saves you from splitting a submission across multiple attachments.
Quality, and what is preserved
This tool copies each page into the new document exactly as it is. Images are not re-compressed, so there is no quality loss, and pages of different sizes keep their own dimensions.
Because documents are copied page by page, document-level extras — bookmarks, form fields, file attachments — may not carry over. The content and quality of every page do.
Tips
With many files, prefix their names with 01, 02, … — files merge in the order added, so numbered names make ordering effortless.
If the merged result is heavy, run it through the Compress PDF tool. To leave certain pages out, extract what you need with the Split PDF tool first, then merge.
